Gli At the Gates sono una band svedese di Göteborg, nota per aver aperto la strada al melodic death metal insieme ad artisti come In Flames e Dark Tranquillity. Formatisi nel 1990, hanno avuto un impatto notevole con il loro influente album del 1995 "Slaughter of the Soul", prima di sciogliersi nel 1996. Dopo brevi reunion, il gruppo è rimasto attivo dal 2011, pubblicando album come "At War with Reality", "To Drink from the Night Itself" e "The Nightmare of Being".
