The externally biased twin-diaphragm capsule captures cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns, covering a wide range of recording scenarios from intimate vocal sessions to full orchestral work.

At the heart of the AT4060a is a matched 12AT7 dual-triode vacuum tube that imparts natural harmonic saturation and a three-dimensional quality to transients. Despite the tube circuitry, the self-noise remains low enough for detail-critical recordings, distinguishing it from older all-transformer tube designs.

Three Polar Patterns

Switching between cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 patterns is handled via the dedicated AT8560 power supply included with the microphone. Each pattern is accurate and consistent across the frequency range, allowing the AT4060a to serve as a room microphone, a spot mic, or a mid-side element.

Included Power Supply
