About the Library

The legendary Steinway Model L has been a favorite among classical pianists for over a century. Each piano is as unique as a human voice, and we fell in love with this particular instrument the moment we heard it. Lovingly maintained throughout its life, we captured every detail with exceptional precision. Initially conceived as an R&D project to test a new recording technique, the Magnolia Studio Grand evolved into an affordable, beautiful, and truly playable instrument. We are thrilled with the end result and hope you will be too.

About the Technology

To ensure consistent performance across all 88 keys, we employed a human-supervised machine to press the piano keys at precise speeds, guaranteeing identical velocities at each dynamic level. Our exclusive SpectralFusion technology seamlessly blends between velocities, providing a new level of nuance and control. This innovation allows us to eliminate imperfections and mechanical limitations, creating a playground ready to be brought to life by your creativity.

About the Instrument

Originally crafted in 1903, the Steinway Model L captivated professionals worldwide with its rich, robust sound, quickly earning the nickname “living room grand.” This model packs the warm, resonant tones of a Steinway into a smaller frame, making it a beloved choice for concert pianists seeking responsiveness and power in their home pianos.

Although discontinued in 2005 and replaced by the Model O, the Model L’s layered, powerful sound continues to make it a sought-after instrument today. Most Model Ls were built in New York, embodying Steinway’s “classical New York sound.”
