Meinl HCS10DAS HCS Dark 10" Platillo Splash

Compact Splash Cymbal with Controlled, Dark Tone

The Meinl HCS10DAS 10" HCS Dark Splash is a small-format accent cymbal designed to add quick bursts of color to a drum kit without overwhelming the mix. Its 10" diameter and medium thickness produce a fast attack and hasty decay, making it ideal for punctuating grooves, fills, and transitions. Built in Germany from MS63 brass alloy with a dark finish, this splash delivers a focused response that fits rock, pop, worship, and studio settings. This 10-inch splash is the right choice for beginner and student drummers who want a reliable, dark-toned accent to round out their cymbal setup.

What Sets the HCS Dark Splash Apart

Unlike brighter splash cymbals, the HCS Dark splash uses a specially treated brass surface that yields a controlled, shadowy character rather than a glassy shimmer. Pressure Point Technology shapes the cymbal's bow during production, helping the bell and bow speak with consistent response across the surface. The bold dark finish is more than cosmetic — it visually matches other Meinl HCS Dark cymbals, giving drummers a cohesive look on stage and in the studio.

Ideal for Beginners, Students, and Expanding Kits

This splash is aimed at drummers building their first serious cymbal setup, students looking for an affordable splash with character, and gigging players who want a dark-toned accent to complement brighter crashes. Its small footprint makes it easy to mount on a boom arm or auxiliary stand without crowding the kit. Because the HCS Dark splash punches through a mix quickly and decays fast, it works well for live worship, pop, rock, and studio sessions where space in the cymbal mix matters.
